The black Polypropylene used for Trampoline Mats is a very tough material but if the woven fibres get cut and the stress is continued then it will deteriorate very quickly. It is important therefore to get little tears and holes repaired before that point is reached. You can often get many more years out of the mat by repairing holes early.

The stitches around the hem are often the first place to see problems. The Bonded Polyester thread is UV tolerant but after years of wear and exposure to the elements it becomes weakened. Continued bouncing will damage the hem and enlarge the spring holes to the point of rendering the mat un-repairable. Of course a slackened mat gives a poor bounce as well. Regular inspection of the hem stitching is advisable. Restitching the hem will lengthen the life of the mat as the Polypropylene will last for years.
